A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners was held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 7:04 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Present – President Mercer, Councilors Araujo, Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Rubio, Stachowiak and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0.

 

Chairperson Mercer presided.

 

 

The reading of the records of September 20, 2023 was dispensed with and the records were APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk,

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Araujo, seconded by Councilors Coderre and Moreno, the *Consent Agenda was APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

Speaking was Nidal Battikha, 90 Industrial Circle, Unit 21, Lincoln, RI, applicant.

 

Mr. Battikha stated that they will be located in the Armory building.

 

This will be a virtual reality arcade.  People will be able to book time and play multi-person games on a headset.  He has 10 headsets; the maximum is 25 people.

 

The hours will be 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., Monday thru Saturday and 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Sunday. There is background music.  They don’t sell food, but will serve food at parties only. There will be people of ages from 8 to 85 years. The average age is in the 20s.

 

They were in Johnston until last August.

 

There were no other speakers. The hearing was closed.

Stacy Deetz stated that she has 22 years of experience cooking in restaurants. She is an author and she has been on the TV show, Top Chef.

 

Robert Deetz stated that he worked at a bar for three years in Boston.

 

The restaurant will be a casual place; it will not be rowdy bar.  They will be open for dinner only, and open 5 days a week.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZED COUNCILOR STACHOWIAK.

 

With majority consent of the Board, the following motion made by Councilor Stachowiak, seconded by Councilor Araujo, was PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk was instructed to issue a summons to One Stop Liquors, 390 Smithfield Avenue, to appear at a FORMAL HEARING on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, for the following reason:

 

1.  On or about August 31, 2023 and September 25, 2023:  Authorizing the sale or delivery to an underaged person for purposes of sale, possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage on the license premises either for said underaged person’s own use or of any other person (Violation of R.I. Gen. Laws § 3-8-1).

 

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Araujo, seconded by Councilor Coderre, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
