A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners was held Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 6:55 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. Video

 

Present – President Mercer, Councilors Araujo, Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Rubio, Stachowiak and Wildenhain.

Mr. Albuquerque is supporting Leslie Moore.  He states that she is doing good job.

 

 

Speaking via ZOOM in favor is Jeremiah Sullivan, 25 Broad Street, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Mr. Sullivan states that Leslie Moore is very positive – He urges her to keep up the good work.

Speaking in favor was Michael Horan, 393 Armistice Boulevard, Pawtucket, RI, attorney for applicant; and Aderito Vieira, 12 Walnut Street, Pawtucket, RI. Applicant.

 

Mr. Vieira states that he and his are the principals in the application.

 

He has 20 years of restaurant experience.

 

He bought the property last March.  They took over the operation of the business in January.

 

Mr Vieira states that they will run it like a family restaurant.

 

Mr. Vieira previously worked at Lima’s Lounge and Checkmate.

 

The hours will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. for lunch and dinner, and will open at 8:00 a.m. on weekends to serve breakfast.

 

There will be no outdoor seating at this time.

 

This is not going to be a nightclub.

 

They will have live music, but no concerts. They hope that they will not need a police detail officer. They are willing to stop entertainment at midnight.

 

The restaurant will be open every day to start and eventually be closed on Mondays or Tuesdays.

 

There will be up to 5 employees.

 

They are doing work on the building. He thinks that the restaurant side capacity is 113 people.  He is not sure of the capacity on the bar side

 

There will be no hookah.

 

There will be cameras inside and outside. They will have a security person, if needed.

 

They will not have the same business model as the prior owner.

 

They have plan to open business in May.

Ms. Balcom doesn’t see any problems.  She is happy there is on outdoor seating.

She is now opening at 5:00 p.m. for dinner and 11:00 a.m. on weekends to serve brunch.

 

She will take temporary license to show that there won’t be a problem.

 

 

Also speaking is Jeremiah Sullivan, 34 Steadman Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Mr. Sullivan is the second owner of Halo Lounge.

 

He stated that they delivered on everything they said they would do.

 

He believes that there is a disconnect on what the business is.
