A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 7:35 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, DaRosa, Gregor, Mercer, Schuette, Stachowiak, Vasquez and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0.

 

Chairperson Moran presides.

 

The reading of the records of October 5, 2022 is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk,

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Araujo, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

Speaking is Ashish Vyas, 14 Gale Court, North Providence, RI, applicant.

 

Mr. Vyas states that he has gutted the building and will be doing a full build-out.

 

He is TIPS certified. He will start with two employees.

 

He worked in catering.

 

He hopes to open the business by the end of the first quarter.

 

Mr. Vyas has a parking lot at 745 Main Street for parking.  There are 20 parking spaces.

 

 

 

He may use the bank lot instead for parking, if he gets the ok from the bank.

 

Mr. Vyas hopes that the new train stop will create business.

 

His current thought on hours will be from 5:00 p.m. until midnight.

 

He is the only member of the LLC.

 

There will be entertainment, such as comedians and storytellers.

 

Mr. Vyas states that the restaurant will not be a nightclub.

 

 

Speaking in favor is Michelle Hardy, 88 Brown Street, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Ms. Hardy is the deputy city clerk for the city of Pawtucket.

 

She states that she lives near the building she has noticed a huge improvement to the property.

 

She states that she advised Mr. Vyas to get the OK from the Council before he spends more money on the restaurant.

 

Mr. Vyas states that the parking lot will cost $30,000 and the build-out will cost another $100,000

 

There are no other speakers.  The hearing is continued.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MERCER.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the following licenses are APPROVED with the following stipulations, on a unanimous voice vote:

 

STIPULATIONS.

 

1. Drinks in fenced in area only.
2. Plastic cups to be used.
3. Parking lot for parking only - No drinking allowed in the parking lot.
4. Detail police officer on duty from 1:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
