A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 6:54 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. Video

 

 

Present – Chairperson Moran, Councilors Araujo, Barry, Kallman, Mercer, Rudd, Vasquez, Vitali and Wildenhain.

Ms. Moore states that there are two requests for game room licenses.  One has video games; the other has foosball, pool tables and similar games.  The second is more for adults and the video game room is more for younger people. There are no coin games, the customers pay by the hour.

 

She will look into selling memberships, which will allow the members to come in and play without hourly payments.

Attorney Welch states that Mr. Correia is a Pawtucket high school graduate and his wife works for the city.

 

Mr. Correia currently runs an auto body shop in Massachusetts.  He also worked for Sprint and has managerial experience.

 

All employees will be Tips certified.

 

Mr. Correia will be buying the building.

 

The hours currently are from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.  They will stay the same for now; however, Mr. Correia is considering opening later.

 

There will be the same parking plan, floor plan and menu.

 

Attorney Welch states that Mr. Correia understands the restrictions on this type of business.

 

He will have a live DJ.

 

He will keep the door shut.

 

Mr. Correia states that he will carry over the current staff.

 

President Moran states that there was a problem with one of the bartenders in the past.

 

Mr. Correia states that he will give everyone a chance, but he will make sure that everyone follows the rules.

Mr. Then states that he thought that he had an entertainment license. He shut down the place since police told them no music.

 

Mr. Then states that there is a barbershop next door that plays loud music.  People think it comes from his place.

 

Councilor Rudd states that there was one incident with closure after hours.

 

Mr. Then states that it will not happen again.
