The Rhody Hen Café (Luna’s Café LLC) 350 Prospect Street, LIC#13677®

Speaking in favor is Tiffany Barrera, 24 Chaplin Street, Pawtucket, RI, the applicant.

Ms. Barrera states that she would like to expand hours on Friday until 8:00 p.m. and maybe on Saturday until 6:00 p.m.

She will serve alcohol from local breweries and distilleries.

When asked if the alcohol is ancillary to the food, Ms. Barrera responds that she wants to serve a mimosa or bloody Mary during the day and maybe a beer with dinner on Friday.  That’s all.  She hopes to attract the fish and chips crowd.

Speaking in opposition is Maria Rosario, 45 Exeter Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

Ms. Rosario states that she does not mind the restaurant, but does not want liquor.  She does not think that they should be open after 5:00 p.m.  She is concerned about outside tables.

Upon questioning about outside tables, Ms. Barrera states that she is looking for four tables on the patio.

Ms. Rosario’s property abuts the restaurant and she owns other properties. She states that there is not enough parking there. She is concerned about her property values.

Speaking in opposition is Lynh Nguyen, 74 Exeter Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

Ms. Nguyen agrees with Maria Rosario about liquor.

Speaking in opposition is Mario Rosario, Jr., 334 Prospect Street, Pawtucket, RI.

Mr. Rosario states that his father would agree with his mother.  He was a pillar of the community.

Mr. Rosario states that they have two fears with liquor:

1.     They are concerned with turnover of the liquor license if Rhody Hen leaves. The Board explains that the license is not transferable.

2.     They are concerned about expanded hours.

Ms. Barrera notes that she is pregnant and has no plans to stay up late.

Mr. Rosario thinks they will be ok with the liquor license if it is kept under control.

Councilor Barry tells Ms. Barrera that he is going to hold off on  approving the outside drinking.
