AUTOMOBILE REPAIR SHOP AND SECOND HAND SHOP LICENSES (CLASS A & B) (Selling used automobiles and parts) New -

Hi Tech Auto Sales & Service (Tran, Shawn) 264 Weeden Street, LIC#11291 #11292 Video

(Previously - Cisco’s Super Store Auto Sales (Cisco’s Super Store, Inc.))

ZONING RESTRICTIONS.

  1. That the delivery of appliances be conducted so that none of the items are stored on subject site.
  2. The total site will be kept clean of debris and no storage of parts shall be on exterior of building
  3. Hours of operation from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  4. Repair of vehicles shall be done inside so that no neighbors will be disturbed.

Speaking in favor is Shawn Tran, 53 Emery Street, Attleboro, MA, applicant.

Mr. Tran states he wants a little dealership.

He has experience running mechanic shops in Providence. He started at age 19.  He has had no issues in Providence.

He will have one worker.

His goal is to just sell cars.

He believes that there is too much competition for an auto repair shop, so he will fix only his own cars for sale.

He will be securing the back lot by putting up a new fence and updating security cameras.

All work will be done inside and all parts will be kept inside.

Speaking on this matter is George Dumont, 165 Willis Avenue, Seekonk, MA

Mr. Dumont owns the property next to 264 Weeden.

He is not speaking in favor or opposed to the application.  However, he does have concerns.

He is certified building official in RI, having worked in Central Falls, Cumberland and now in East Greenwich.

He has concerns about auto repair shops. Mr. Dumont wants to develop his property into multi-family units and condominiums.  From work, he knows that auto repair shops can be problems.

If the Board is to approve this application, Mr. Dumont is requesting additional stipulations:

  1. No parking on Coleman Street.
  2. Limit the number of vehicles in the back lot per zoning ordinance.
  3. Fence in the back must be a privacy fence

He states that the prior owner of the property was a pretty good neighbor, who addressed problems right away.  He hopes the new owner will be a good neighbor also.

There are no other speakers.

The Hearing is closed.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR RUDD.

Upon motion made by Councilor Rudd, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following licenses are APPROVED, with the following stipulations on a unanimous voice vote:

AUTOMOBILE REPAIR SHOP AND SECOND HAND SHOP LICENSES (CLASS A & B) (Selling used automobiles and parts) New -
