A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at 7:27 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairperson Moran, Councilors, Barry, Bray, Cano, Hodge, Mercer, Rudd, Tetreault and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0

Speaking in favor is Alex Lineham, 110 Kenyon Ave, Pawtucket, RI, applicant.

 

Mr. Lineham states that he will be operating a tattoo studio.

 

There will be no signs in the window.

 

He is located in a live/work community.

 

He has approvals from the health, zoning and fire departments.

 

He has a lease for the business.

 

 

Also speaking is Sue Mara, Acting Director, Planning and Redevelopment.

 

Councilor Barry wants to be sure that there is no repeat of the fire in Oakland.

 

Ms. Mara states that there is a higher degree of scrutiny than in Oakland.  There will be annual inspections by the Department of Health.

 

She states that the applicant must receive all of the approvals as any other business.

 

There will be a limit of five clients per week.

 

 

Mr. Lineham states that he hopes to sell t-shirts eventually, mostly on-line sales.

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Cano, the following license is APPROVED, CONDITIONED ON THE PASSAGE OF THE HOME OCCUPATION BY RIGHT FOR LESSEES ORDINANCE and with the following STIPULATION on a unanimous voice vote:

Mr. Horan states that Mrs. Stebenne has experience in the service businesses.

 

He states that the fence will be fixed and the dumpster will be enclosed.

 

Ms. Stebenne states that she owns three hotels on Misquamicut Beach and her parents owned J & K and Boulevard Tap.

 

She will keep the current six employees.

 

The employees are TIPS certified.

 

The hours will be 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Monday thru Thursday, and 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

 

She will serve bar type food.

 

 

There will be no entertainment.

 

She will keep the building the same for now and will remodel later.
