With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Rudd, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Frank Milos, Law Department, regarding Class B liquor establishments being entitled to remain open on New Year’s morning, January 1, 2014, until 3:00 a.m., pursuant to Chapter 242 of the Public Laws of Rhode Island, 1962.  The council approved the late closing time and understands that alcoholic beverages cannot be sold after the usual closing hour of 1:00 a.m.  The question they have is whether the late closing time allows the establishments to let in new patrons after 1:00 a.m. or is it only for those patrons who are in the establishment before the regular 1:00 a.m. closing time.

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Rudd, the meeting is adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
