A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 7:15 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairperson Moran, Councilors Barros, Barry, Hodge, Mercer, Rudd, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0.

 

Chairperson Moran presides.



The reading of the records of February 20, 2013 is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barry, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

Speaking in favor is applicant Jeanne Michaud, 3 West Harford Avenue, Uxbridge, MA.

 

Ms. Michaud states that she is looking to be a different kind of lounge with a different customer base, which will feature local area talent, and feature alternative and classic rock.  She states that she will be there running the place.

 

Ms. Michaud states that there are nine parking spaces behind the lounge.  They are negotiating with the next door owner for additional parking.  The capacity is 72 people with tables and 150 people without tables.  She has run several restaurants, but none with a bar.  She will provide security when she has events.  With the larger capacity, she will have bouncers. 

 

Ms. Michaud states that she is looking for six-months to prove herself and is asking for the stipulation regarding a police detail to be removed.  She is looking to have eight employees total, two employees to work days, two employees to work nights, and bouncers.  They will all be TIPS certified.  The bouncers will be there every night in the beginning.

 

The next speaker is Emily Michaud, 135 Sylvian Street, Central Falls, RI. 

 

Ms. Michaud states that she is the daughter of the applicant and will be in charge of management.   She has a history as a bartender.  She will try to change the crowd and will change the type of music at the place.  She will have security.  She understands the need for a police detail, at this time.

 

There are no other speakers at this time.
