A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 6:51 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Chairperson Moran, Councilors Barry, Chadwick, Hodge, O’Neill, Vitali and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilors Barros, and Tetreault.
Chairperson Moran presides.
The reading of the records of December 16, 2011 is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FOR LICENSE, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR A HEARING AT THIS TIME, IS TAKEN UP:

Speaking in favor is Alex Samayoa, 219 Webster Street, Providence, RI, applicant. Also speaking in favor is Mickey Tandon, 329 Barton Street, landlord at 327 Barton Street.
Mr. Samayoa states that he has been in the nightclub business for several years as a promoter. He wants to own his own business. He managed a club before.
Mr. Samayoa states that he would like to run billiards on Wednesday thru Sunday, a nightclub on weekend nights and closed Monday and Tuesday. He would like to be open till 11:00 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, 1:00 am on Friday and Saturday and 12 midnight on Sunday.
He states that he will have live bands.
He will employ a minimum of 12 employees and a maximum of 16. All employees will be TIPS certified.
Mr. Tandon states that there is a parking lot that fits 150 people. The capacity was about 450 people in the past.
Mr. Samayoa states that he will hire a security company on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, which will check ID’s, cover the doors and parking lot. He plans to improve the outside lighting.
Mr. Tandon states that the building has a new fire system, alarm system and electrical system.
Also speaking is Captain Steve Parent, Pawtucket Fire Department.
Captain Parent states that he wants a stipulation placed on the license to require a fire detail on Fridays and Saturdays because all the doors are in the front. There is no remoteness between the doors. He states that he can require the detail even without the stipulation.
Mr. Tandon states that he is concerned about the fire detail because the tenant won’t be able to afford it.
Captain Parent states that if the amount of business on Fridays does not warrant a detail, he will not require a detail on Fridays.

Upon motion made by Councilor Chadwick, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following application for license is CONTINUED FOR HEARING until the January 25, 2012 meeting.

Jeannette A. Rodirguez d/b/a Mig’s Boom Boom Room, 852 Newport Ave. LIC#7802®
Speaking in favor is Jeannette A. Rodriguez, 14 Barry Road, Providence, RI.
Ms. Rodriguez states that they will be open Wednesday or Thursday through Sunday. The hours will be 6:00 pm till midnight on Wednesday and Thursday and 6:00 pm till 1:00 am on weekends.
There are 17 parking spaces in the lot. There will be security outside to check that the people park correctly and that no one is hanging around.
She states that she ran a liquor establishment in Providence for 2½ years without problems.
The business will have sandwiches.
Ms. Rodriguez states that she will put in an additional door in the back.
Also speaking is Captain Steve Parent, Pawtucket Fire Department.
He states that he approved the new back door.
There are no other speakers.

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following application for license is CONTINUED FOR HEARING until the February 8, 2012 meeting.
