April 11, 2012

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairperson Moran, Councilors Barros, Barry, Hodge, O’Neill, Tetreault, Wildenhain and Vitali.

 

Absent – Councilor Chadwick.

 

Chairperson Moran presides.

 

The reading of the records of March 21, 2012 is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FOR LICENSE, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR A HEARING AT THIS TIME, IS TAKEN UP:

 

CLASS BT (Tavern)  transfer -

 

Pawtucket GR, Restaurant LLC d/b/a Murphy’s Law, (transfer from Maugus Corporation d/b/a Ground Round) 2 George Street, LIC#7941

 

Speaking in favor is Ryan Blaney, 489 Turnpike Street, Easton, MA and Gordon Hyde, 48 Whitehall Way, Bellingham, MA.

 

Mr. Blaney states that they plan on updating the restaurant and updating the TV’s.  This will be a premium sports bar and Irish pub.  All employees will be TIPS certified.  They will have some live entertainment, mostly acoustical background music.  He has a background in this type of business and would like to open in 5-6 weeks.

 

There are no other speakers.  The Public Hearing is closed.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Barry introduces the following communication:

 

Communication from Paul J. Pisano, Esq., to the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of the Class B (Tavern) liquor license of Maugus Corporation d/b/a Ground Round to Pawtucket GR Restaurant LLC d/b/a Murphy’s Law, 2 George Street, in the total amount of $6,683.37.

 

Communication from McLaughlin & Moran, Inc. to the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class B (Tavern) Liquor License of Maugus Corporation d/b/a Ground Round to Pawtucket GR Restaurant LLC d/b/a Murphy’s Law, 2 George Street, in the total amount of $3,300.45.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following communications are READ AND ORDERED FILED:

Upon motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilors Barros and O’Neill, the following license is APPROVED PENDING THE SETTLEMENT OF ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS on a unanimous voice vote:
