A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at 7:26 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairperson Kinch, Councilors Barros, Barry, Hodge, Moran, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Chadwick.

 

Chairperson Kinch presides.

 

The reading of the records of November 23, 2010 is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

 

 

WITH UNANIMOUS CONSENT OF THE BOARD, THE FOLLOWING MATTER WAS MOVED TO THE TOP OF THE AGENDA:

THE FOLLOWING PETITION, WHICH WAS REMANDED BACK TO THE BOARD BY THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS REGULATION, WAS LAID ON THE TABLE AT THE MEETING HELD OCTOBER 6, 2010, AND IS AGAIN TAKEN UP:

Chairman Kinch states that after a neighborhood meeting, he does not believe that an accommodation can be made to satisfy him or the neighbors on this request for transfer.

Upon motion made by Councilor Vitali, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following license is DENIED on a unanimous voice vote:

A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FOR LICENSE, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR A HEARING AT THIS TIME, IS TAKEN UP:

 

CLASS A – Transfer

 

Lim LLC d/b/a Murphy’s Liquors (transfer from Shree Balaji Corp d/b/a Murphy’s Liquor, BY RECEIVER) 290 Pawtucket Avenue, Pawtucket, RI

 

Representing the applicant, Lim LLC, is Joseph P. Casale, Attorney, 438 East Main Road, Middletown, RI.

 

Representing the receiver is Carl Ricci, Attorney, 56 Pine Street, Providence, RI.

 

Also present is Tithdaranet Lim, 21 Phelps Road, Middletown, RI, applicant.

 

Mr. Ricci states that the license was sold to Lim LLC through the receivership process, subject to the license transfer.

 

Mr. Casale states that the owner has put in a fire alarm system, and will fix the residential portion of the building.

 

He also states that the applicant has worked in various liquor stores on Aquidneck Island.

 

Ms. Lim states that she has management experience.

 

She will be there every day.

 

There will be two employees, including her.

 

The hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

 

Mr. Casale states that Ms. Lim is TIPS trained.

 

The next speaker is Captain Stephen Parent, Pawtucket Fire Department.

 

Captain Parent states that he is certifying the liquor store portion of the building only, not the rest of the building.

 

Mr. Casale states that the property is being bought by another entity.  Ms. Lim will run the store as a tenant.

 

There are no other speakers.

Happy Food Production LLC d/b/a Wild Flour Bakery Café, 727 East Avenue, (Outdoor Seating requested) LIC#5967®

 

Present is applicant Robert Yaffe, 16 Blanding Avenue, Barrington, RI

 

Mr. Yaffe states that the location for the café is where the Ronzio Pizza used to be at 727 East Avenue.

 

He built a garden area with seats and tables where the alley used to be.  He owns Garden Grill.

 

This is an all vegan bakery and juice bar.

 

There are no other speakers.

Maria Lima’s Restaurant Inc., d/b/a Cantinho Restaurant, 82 Pawtucket Avenue, LIC#4203
