A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at 6:46 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Chairperson Bray, Councilors Barry, Chadwick, Grebien, Hodge, Kinch, Moran and Wildenhain.
Absent – 0.
Chairperson Bray presides.
The reading of the records of August 20, 2008 is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.
Communication from Paul J. Pisano, Attorney, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class A Liquor License of 1520 Ambema Inc., d/b/a Borderline Liquors, to Jayaba, Inc., d/b/a Borderline Liquors, in the total amount of $22,698.61. is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.
With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Hodge introduces the following communication:
Communication from McLaughlin & Moran, Inc., to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of 1520 Ambema Inc., d/b/a Borderline Liquors, 1520 Newport Avenue, in the amount of $7,718.19
Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FIELD.

A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FOR LICENSE, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR A HEARING AT THIS TIME, IS TAKEN UP:

Jayaba, Inc., d/b/a Borderline Liquors (transfer from 1520 Ambema Inc., d/b/a Borderline Liquors) 1520 Newport Avenue, LIC#4959
Representing the license holder is Attorney Joseph Lamagna, 716 Central Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Lamagna states that the current owner told him that 50% of Pisano claim is paid and 50% will be paid in the couple of weeks.
Also present is the applicant Rajesh Patel, 14 Jenna Drive, Attleboro, MA.
Mr. Patel states that he has no relationship to the current owner. He owned a grocery store that sold beer and wine in Massachusetts for 17 years. His wife will be working there full time and he will be working part time.
There are no other speakers.

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following license is APPROVED, SUBJECT TO THE PAYMENT OF ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS, on a unanimous voice vote:

Also present is applicant Michael P. Paquette, 19 Sayles Avenue, Lincoln, RI.
Attorney Lombardi states that all claims have been paid.
Mr. Paquette states that there will be no changes in hours or activities. He plans to modernize the inside the establishment.
