May 21, 2008

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at 6:50 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Councilors Barry, Chadwick, Grebien, Hodge, Kinch, and Moran.

 

Absent – Chairperson Bray; Councilors Carr and Wildenhain.

 

Vice Chairperson Hodge presides.

 

The reading of the records of May 7, 2008 is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FOR LICENSE, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR A HEARING AT THIS TIME, IS TAKEN UP:

 

CLASS B (Victualer)

 

Debra A. Ricci d/b/a Leprechaun Lounge, (transfer from Leprechaun Lounge Inc) 602 Smithfield Ave. LIC#4913

 

Speaking in favor is Debra A. Ricci, applicant and Robert Restivo.

 

Ms. Ricci distributes the layout of the premises, seating plan, parking plan, and menu.

 

Councilor Chadwick questions Ms. Ricci regarding the operation of the business.

 

Ms. Ricci states that the hours of operation will be from 12 p.m. until 12 a.m.  They plan on having entertainment that will sometimes be a small band, but usually karaoke.

 

Councilor Chadwick states that he has spoken with Major Martins and there have been no issues at this location.

 

Mr. Restivo states that Police have come in to their establishment and congratulated them on a job well done.

 

Councilor Chadwick asks if they have any prior experience.

 

Mr. Restivo states that he has managed businesses before in Florida.

 

There are no other speakers. 

 

The Public Hearing is closed.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CHADWICK.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Chadwick introduces the following communications:

 

Communication from Alfred A. Russo, Jr., Esq., representing Candilejas Corporation, to the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of the Class BV liquor license of Chad Tupper d/b/a Leprechaun Lounge, Inc. in the amount of $60,000.

 

Communication from Alfred A. Russo, Jr., Esq., representing Euginio Gibeau, to the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of the Class BV liquor license of Chad Tupper d/b/a Leprechaun Lounge, Inc. in the amount of $25,000.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Chadwick, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following communications are READ AND ORDERED FIELD.

Upon motion made by Councilor Chadwick, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following license is APPROVED, SUBJECT TO THE PAYMENT OF ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS, on a unanimous voice vote:

THE FOLLOWING PETITION FOR LICENSE IS APPROVED ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE:

Petition of the Colombian American Cultural Society, Inc. to sell beer and wine at a Festival, in the Slater Mill parking lot, 67 Roosevelt Avenue, on Sunday, July 20, 2008, from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., LIC#4919

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Chadwick, the meeting is adjourned at 6:57 p.m.
