A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 6:53 p.m. in the Municipal Court Room, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Councilors Bray, Carr, Chadwick, Grebien, Hodge, Kinch and Moran

 

Absent – Councilors Barry and Wildenhain.

 

Councilor Bray presides.

 

The reading of the records of April 25, 2007 is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

THE FOLLOWING COMMUNICATION WAS LAID ON THE TABLE AT THE MEETINGS HELD APRIL 11 AND APRIL 25, 2007, AND IS AGAIN TAKEN UP:

 

Communication from Nelson G. Gregor, President of Great Entrepreneurial Endeavors Inc., d/b/a Gee’s Liquor,  400 Broadway, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners. (Change of stockholders)

 

Representing Mr. Gregor is his brother, Clovis Gregor, 118 Trenton Street, Pawtucket, RI.

 

He states that Nelson Gregor has moved to Florida and wants to take his name off the license.  The license will remain with the two other stockholders.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Moran, the following request is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

Communication from Nelson G. Gregor, President of Great Entrepreneurial Endeavors Inc., d/b/a Gee’s Liquor,  400 Broadway, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners. (Change of stockholders)

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR GREBIEN.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Grebien introduces the following Communication:

 

Communication from Paul J. Pisano, Attorney, objecting to the transfer of Class B (Victualer) Liquor License of Cedar Foods, LLC d/b/a Lang’s Villa, 47 Mendon Avenue, to Alden Street Food Services LLC d/b/a Volcano Grill, in the amount of $11,672.72.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Grebien, seconded by Councilor Moran, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

Councilor Hodge abstains based on his statement that he has a potential business relationship with Alden Street Foods Services LLC.

 

Communication from Heather Davenport, Credit Manager, Thomsen Foodservice, 141 Narragansett Park Drive, East Providence, RI, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class B (Victualer) Liquor License of Cedar Foods, LLC d/b/a Lang’s Villa, 47 Mendon Avenue, to Alden Street Food Services LLC d/b/a Volcano Grill, in the amount of $8,007.03. is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

Councilor Hodge abstains based on his statement that he has a potential business relationship with Alden Street Foods Services LLC.

 

A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FOR LICENSE, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR A HEARING AT THIS TIME, IS TAKEN UP:

 

CLASS B (Victualer) Transfer

 

Alden Street Food Services LLC d/b/a Volcano Grill, (transfer from Cedar Foods, LLC d/b/a Lang’s Villa) 47 Mendon Ave. LIC#10372

 

Speaking in favor for the applicant is attorney Mark S. Krieger, 132 Old River Road, Lincoln, RI.

 

Attorney Krieger states that Mr. Boccelli has been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. He has held five liquor licenses in Massachusetts.

 

He states that Mr. Boccelli intends to downsize the restaurant; there will be 160 seats. The remainder of the restaurant will be used for banquets and special events.

 

Attorney Krieger passes out the menu and floor plan for the restaurant and the resume for assistant manager, Paul Goshtigian.

 

Speaking in favor is the applicant Joseph A. Boccelli, 221 North Main Street, Middleton, MA.

 

Mr. Boccelli states that he has designed, built and run restaurants for over 30 years.

 

He will have entertainment, including bands for weddings and comedy shows.

 

Speaking in favor is the Loubnen Sukkar, 22 Gilbert Stuart Drive, East Greenwich, RI.

 

Mr. Sukkar assures the Board that all outstanding claims will be paid at the closing.

 

There are no other speakers.

 

The hearing is closed.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR GREBIEN.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Grebien, seconded by Councilor Moran, the following license is APPROVED on a voice vote, subject to the payment of all outstanding claims:

 

CLASS B (Victualer) Transfer

 

Alden Street Food Services LLC d/b/a Volcano Grill, (transfer from Cedar Foods, LLC d/b/a Lang’s Villa) 47 Mendon Ave. LIC#10372

 

Councilor Hodge abstains based on his statement that he has a potential business relationship with Alden Street Foods Services LLC.

 

Communication from Luis F. Oliveira, President, L & B Beverage, Inc., 227A North Brow Street, East Providence, RI, to Richard J. Goldstein, City Clerk, objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of Guil Viveiros, LLC d/b/a Four G’s Liquors, 462 Central Avenue to DMDD LLC d/b/a Deluca’s Wine & Liquors, in the amount of $444.90. is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Chadwick, the meeting is adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
