April 25, 2007

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at 7:05 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Councilors Bray, Barry, Carr, Grebien, Hodge, Kinch and Moran.

 

Absent – Councilors Chadwick  and Wildenhain.

 

Councilor Bray presides.

 

The reading of the records of March 11, 2007 is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

THE FOLLOWING COMMUNICATION WAS LAID ON THE TABLE AT THE MEETING HELD APRIL 11, 2007, AND IS AGAIN TAKEN UP AND IS AGAIN LAID ON THE TABLE ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE:

 

Communication from Nelson G. Gregor, President of Great Entrepreneurial Endeavors Inc., d/b/a Gee’s Liquor,  400 Broadway, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners. (Change of stockholders)

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barry, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Great Entrepreneurial Endeavors Inc., requesting once again for a representative to attend the next meeting of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, regarding the transfer of stockholders.

 

A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FOR LICENSE, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR A HEARING AT THIS TIME, IS TAKEN UP:

 

CLASS B (Victualer) NEW

 

The Blackstone at Hope, LLC d/b/a The Blackstone, 1005 Main St. LIC#10371

 

Speaking in favor is the applicant, John Lafrancoise, 12 Morrison Street, Providence, RI.

 

Mr. Lafrancoise first opened his business in 1996 on East Street, and then moved to Cumberland in 1997.  He now wants to come back to Pawtucket, at Hope Webbing.

 

Mr. Lafrancoise has arranged for parking.

 

He states that wherever he’s been, he never had any problems or noise complaints.

 

He states that it will be a full-service restaurant and will have music.  It will be casual atmosphere, reasonable prices.  The hours will be 10:00 am to 1:00 am.  All servers are TIPS certified. The manager recently worked at the Madhouse Café.

 

There are no other speakers.

 

The Hearing is closed.

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Hodge introduces the following communication:

 

Communication from Vasco A. Vargas, Sales Manager, Aidil Wines & Liquors, 30 Martin Street, Cumberland, RI, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of Guil Viveiros, LLC d/b/a Four G’s Liquors, 462 Central Avenue to DMDD LLC d/b/a Deluca’s Wine & Liquors, in the amount of $630.00.

 

Upon motion made by Council Hodge, seconded by Council Grebien, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

With majority consent of the Council Councilor Hodge introduces the following petition:
