June 7, 2006

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at 6:55 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairman Grebien; Councilors Barry, Bray, Hodge, Moran, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Carr and Clemente.

 

Chairman Grebien presides.

 

The reading of the records of May 24, 2006, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

A Formal hearing is held on the following application for license, is taken up and is TAKEN UNDER ADVISEMENT ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE:

Tropical Vibes Corporation d/b/a Tabu Restaurant & Lounge, 17 Exchange Street, LIC#10330

 

Communication from Loubnen Sukkar, President of the Cedar Foods LLC d/b/a Lang’s Villa, 47 Mendon Avenue, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, requesting permission to sell beer and wine, non-alcoholic beverages, grilled food and to have entertainment in the parking lot, 47 Mendon Avenue, on Monday, July 3, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., IS READ AND ORDERED FILED AND THE REQUEST IS APPROVED.

 

Communication from Lt. William J. Sisson, CFEI, Assistant Deputy State Fire Marshal, to Janice M. LaPorte, CMC, City Clerk. (Fire Inspection at Club Tabu, 17 Exchange Street) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

Upon motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Moran, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FIELD:

 

Communication from Major Arthur J.  Martins, Police Department, to Janice M. LaPorte, CMC, City Clerk.  (Underage Sale of Alcohol at Rick’s Liquors)

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BARRY.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Moran, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to issue a Summons to Bhav Liquors, Inc., d/b/a Rick’s Liquors, 746 Broadway, Pawtucket, RI, to appear at a FORMAL HEARING on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, for the following reason:

 

1.   Sale or delivery of an alcoholic beverage to an underaged person on the license premises for purposes of sale, possession or consumption, on or about June 2, 2006 (R.I.G.L 3-8-1) and/or allowing the possession of an alcoholic beverage by underage persons (R.I.G.L 3-8-10), on or about June 2, 2006.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Moran, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to issue a Summons to Tropical Liquors Corporation d/b/a Tropical Liquors, 280 East Avenue, Pawtucket, RI, to appear at a FORMAL HEARING on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, for the following reason:

 

1.   Sale or delivery of an alcoholic beverage to an underaged person on the license premises for purposes of sale, possession or consumption, on or about May 26, 2006 (R.I.G.L 3-8-1) and/or allowing the possession of an alcoholic beverage by underage persons (R.I.G.L 3-8-10), on or about May 26, 2006.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to issue a Summons to Eagle Express Chinese Restaurant Corporation d/b/a R Bar, 852 Newport Avenue, to determine the status of the liquor license and the plans of the license holder, if any, to reopen the business and, if so, in what capacity.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Vitali, the meeting is adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
