February 8, 2006

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 7:10 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairman Grebien; Councilors Barry, Bray, Carr, Moran, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilors Clemente and Hodge.

 

Chairman Grebien presides.

 

The reading of the records of January 25, 2006, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

Communication from Paul J. Pisano, Esq., representing the RI Liquor Distributors Association, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class A Liquor License of Lonsdale Liquors, Inc., to Jorica Liquors LLC d/b/a Lonsdale Wine & Spirits, in the total amount of $1,321.44. is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Moran introduces the following Communication:

 

Communication from Paul J. Pisano, Esq., representing the RI Liquor Distributors Association, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class A Liquor License of Lonsdale Liquors, Inc., to Jorica Liquors LLC d/b/a Lonsdale Wine & Spirits, in an additional amount of $1,214.80.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FIELD:

 

Communication from Paul J. Pisano, Esq., representing the RI Liquor Distributors Association, to Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, objecting to the transfer of Class A Liquor License of Lonsdale Liquors, Inc., to Jorica Liquors LLC d/b/a Lonsdale Wine & Spirits, in an additional amount of $1,214.80.

 

A public hearing is held on the following for license, which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:

Jorica Liquors LLC d/b/a Lonsdale Wine & Spirits, (Transfer from Lonsdale Liquors, Inc.)  465 Lonsdale Avenue, LIC#10360

 

Representing the applicant is Joseph Raheb, Attorney

 

Mr. Raheb states that the principal owners are Joseph Kishfy and Bahij Boutros.

 

Jorica Liquors is a limited liability company.  Mr. Kishfy owned and operated a liquor store in Providence for many years.  Mr. Boutros has many years of restaurant business experience.

 

The applicants have enrolled in an alcohol training course.

 

The hours of operation will remain the same.  They will retain the three employees currently at the store and the applicants will also be on the premises.

 

There are no other speakers.

 

The Hearing is closed.

Upon motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Vitali, the following license is APPROVED PENDING THE SETTLEMENT OF ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS, on a unanimous voice vote:

Communication from State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, Department of Business Regulation to Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., Assistant City Solicitor. (Notice of Hearing for Juventude Caboverdeana Soccer Club, Inc., for March 9, 2006) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

THE FOLLOWING LICENSE IS APPROVED ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE:

 

Class F –1 (Beer & Wine)

 

Petition of The Pawtucket Foundation to sell beer and wine at an Awards Dinner at the Hasbro, 1027 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket,  on Thursday, March 30, 2006, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., LIC#162

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Moran introduces the following license:

 

Class F –1 (Beer & Wine)

 

Petition of St. Maria Goretti Church to sell beer and wine at Valentine’s Day Dance at the Church Hall, Power Road, Pawtucket,  on Saturday, February 11, 2006, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., LIC#164

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the following license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

Class F –1 (Beer & Wine)
