A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at 7:07 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairman Grebien; Councilors Barry, Bray, Carr, Clemente, Moran, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Hodge.

 

Chairman Grebien presides.

 

The reading of the records of April 20, 2005, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

A public hearing on the following application for license which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:

 

CLASS A

 

PLW-MA, Inc., d/b/a Blackstone Wine & Spirits, 727 East Avenue (transfer from Gary’s Liquors, Inc., 1179 Central Avenue), LIC#10345

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BRAY.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Vitali, the Public Hearing for the following application is continued until May 25, 2005, on a unanimous voice vote:

PLW-MA, Inc., d/b/a Blackstone Wine & Spirits, 727 East Avenue (transfer from Gary’s Liquors, Inc., 1179 Central Avenue), LIC#10345

 

 

A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

 

CLASS B (Victualer)

 

      Cedar Foods LLC d/b/a Lang’s Villa, (transfer from Lang’s Villa, Inc.) 47 Mendon Avenue, LIC#10346

 

Speaking in favor is Loubnen K. Sukkar, applicant, 22 Gilbert Stuart  Drive, East Greenwich, RI.

 

Mr. Sukkar states that his intention is to buy the building within 1 year.

 

He has owned a restaurant in Charlestown, RI, for past five years.

 

There are no other speakers.

 

The Hearing is closed.

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Moran, the following license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Vitali, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to issue a Summons to Boson Associates Inc., d/b/a Panache Martini Lounge – 242 Middle Street, Pawtucket, RI, to appear at an INFORMAL HEARING on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, to discuss the following:

 

1.      Request to remove one of the detail officers required for Fridays, Saturdays, and the eve of any legal Rhode Island holiday (additional officer added 11/10/04.)

2.      Trade name of “Macondo” still remains on building. Request to change the name to “Panache Martini Lounge” was approved by the Board of License Commissioners on December 8, 2004.

3.      Any other issue regarding the operation of this business.

 

 

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Vitali, the meeting is adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
