A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at 6:55 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Chairman Grebien, Councilors Barry, Bray, Carr, Clemente, Hodge, Moran, Vitali and Wildenhain.
Absent – 0.
Chairman Grebien presides.
The reading of the records of February 9, 2005, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.
With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Moran introduces the following communication:
Communication from Arcaro, Belilove, and Kolodney, Attorneys at Law, objecting to the transfer of Class B (Victualer) liquor license of Cantinho Bar & Grille, Inc., 82 Pawtucket Avenue to Maria Lima’s Restaurant, Inc., d/b/a Cantinho Restaurant, in the amount of $2,287.16
Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FIELD:

A public hearing is held on the following application for license, which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:

Speaking in favor is Ms. Maria Lima, applicant, 312 West Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Upon questioning from Councilor Barry, Ms. Lima states that there will be no changes to the business.
Councilor Barry states that the only complaints he has received from the residents is that the restaurant’s customers park in front of the beauty salon and the Irish Social Club, which causes traffic problems, and asks Ms. Lima to be sure to remind her patrons of this problem.
Ms. Lima states that she will remind her patrons of the parking issue and also states that the employees are TIPS trained.
Speaking in favor is Jack Galoso, 6 Winter Berry Road, Lincoln, RI, current owner.
Mr. Galoso states that Ms. Lima will do a better job because she will be at the business all the time.

Speaking in favor is Joseph Raheb, Attorney representing the applicant.
Also present is Andrew Hibbert, 7 Touisset Avenue, Swansea, MA, sole proprietor.
Mr. Raheb states that the East Avenue Café has been in business since 1989. The seating capacity is 120. The current manager and most of the current employees will be retained and Mr. Hibbert will operate the same type of business as the current owners.
Councilor Barry states that he has received no complaints on the current owners. He asks Mr. Hibbert if he will maintain the island in front of the business as did the current owners.
Mr. Hibbert says that he will maintain the island.
