August 10, 2005

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, August 10, 2005, at 7:50 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Councilors Barry, Bray, Carr, Clemente, Hodge, Moran, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Chairman Grebien.

 

Vice Chairman Moran presides.

 

The reading of the records of July 20, 2005, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

A FORMAL HEARING on the following license is taken up:

 

CLASS B (Victualer)

 

Eagle Express Chinese Restaurant Corporation d/b/a R Bar, 852 Newport Avenue, LIC#10166

 

Representing the City of Pawtucket is Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., Assistant City Solicitor.

 

Yu Chen Zou, President of R Bar, is present.

 

Also present at hearing is Stenographer Sandra Bachini Gaboriault.

 

Councilor Clemente leaves the Chamber at 8:00 p.m.

 

Councilor Clemente returns to the Chamber at 8:04 p.m

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Vitali, the Formal Hearing on the following license is TAKEN UNDER ADVISEMENT on a unanimous voice vote:

 

CLASS B (Victualer)

A public hearing is held on the following application for license, which was advertised for a hearing at this time, is taken up:

 

CLASS B (Victualer)

 

Chazarie Inc., d/b/a Broadway Pub, (transfer from Jimmy’s Bar & Grill, Inc.) 605 Broadway, LIC#10350

 

STIPULATION.

 

1.   Spotlight in rear of building shall be repaired and turned on at all times.

 

Speaking in favor is Jack Gannon, Esq., 727 Central Avenue, representing applicant.

 

Also present is Richard Patnaude, President and Donnell Drew, Vice President.

 

Mr. Gannon states that Mr. Patenaude and Ms. Drew are both TIPS Certified, and Ms. Drew is also Food Safety Certified.

 

Mr. Gannon states that the applicants would like to put more inference on food then on the liquor. 

 

Councilor Wildenhain questions Mr. Patenaude and Ms. Drew on their experience with this type business.

 

Mr. Patenaude states that this is his first venture into this type of business.  Ms. Drew states that she has had many years of experience working in the bar and restaurant business.

 

Councilor Wildenhain states that he hopes that a lesson was learned from the Formal Hearing that took place prior, and asks that they watch over their clientele carefully.

 

There are no other speakers.

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following license is APPROVED with the following stipulation on a unanimous voice vote:

STIPULATION.

 

1.   Spotlight in rear of building shall be repaired and turned on at all times.

 

Communication from Robert L. Thibeault, President of  Boson Associates Inc., d/b/a Panache Martini Lounge, 242 Middle Street, to Pawtucket City Council, requesting the d/b/a name change from Panache Martini Lounge to Macondo is READ AND ORDERED FILED AND THE NAME CHANGE IS APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the stipulation for Boson Associates Inc., d/b/a Macondo, 242 Middle Street, requiring 2 detail police officers on Friday & Saturday nights is reduced to 1 detail officer effective September 1, 2005, on a unanimous voice vote.

 

Communication from Marcus Smith, President of Tropical Vibes Corporation d/b/a Tropical Vibes, 17 Exchange Street, to Pawtucket City Council, requesting the d/b/a name change from Tropical Vibes to Tabu is READ AND ORDERED FILED AND THE D/B/A NAME CHANGE REQUEST IS TAKEN UNDER ADVERTISEMENT on a unanimous voice vote.

 

THE FOLLOWING LICENSE IS APPROVED ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE:

 

Class F –1 (Beer & Wine)

 

Petition of Pawtucket Convergence Committee to sell beer and wine at Arts Festival, in various locations (see attached), from Friday, September 9, 2005, through Sunday, September 25, 2005 LIC#153        

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Vitali, the meeting is adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
