May 7, 2003

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 6:55 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0.

 

Chairman Barry presides.

 

The reading of the records of April 23, 2003, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

A public hearing is held on the following application for license, which was advertised for this time:

 

CLASS B (Victualler)

 

J K Club, LLC d/b/a J K Club, (Transfer from Jean B. Vitali d/b/a Shots), 520 Central Avenue, LIC# 10315

 

STIPULATIONS:

 

All doors shall be kept closed at all times.

No loitering of patrons outside the building.

No alcoholic beverages outside the building at any time.

Clear area of any debris before leaving for the night.

 

Speaking in favor is Joseph Knight, 104 Lyman Street, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Mr. Knight states that the J K Club has been in business since 1933.  He would like to change the focus of the business and he has bought this new business from Mrs. Vitali.

 

Mr. Knight thanks Mrs. LaPorte and the entire City Clerk’s Office for all of their help.

 

His current business is open from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.  He would like to open at the new location from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m., seven days a week.

 

Mr. Knight states that his food license has been approved by the Department of Health.  He will be serving deli style sandwiches and a limited selection of hot foods.

 

He intends to continue operating under the same philosophy as in the past and he does not anticipate any problems at the new location.  All employees will be TIPS Certified.

 

Councilor Wildenhain states that he will ask to maintain current stipulations.

 

Mr. Knight states that he would like to keep the neighbors happy and he will work hard to maintain peace and harmony for the neighborhood.

 

Mr. Knight states that an agreement for the parking lot owned by the Apex has been arranged.

 

Councilor Hoyas asks if the current owner will have any interest in the business.

 

Mr. Knight answers no.

 

Mr. Knight states that he has hired a long time employee to clean up and maintain the property on a daily basis.

 

There are no other speakers.

 

The Hearing is closed.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following license is APPROVED WITH THE FOLLOWING STIPULATIONS on a unanimous voice vote:
