June 25, 2003

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at 6:45 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilors Carr, Hoyas, Moran.

 

Chairman Barry presides.

 

The reading of the records of June 11, 2003, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

A Formal Hearing regarding the following license is taken up:

 

Class B (Victualer)

 

Malibu Bar & Grill, Inc. d/b/a Malibu Bar & Grill, 602 Smithfield Avenue, LIC# 10311

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the Formal Hearing on the following license is continued until July 9, 2003.

A Public Hearing on the following application for license was continued at the June 11, 2003, meeting and is again taken up:

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Wildenhain introduces the following communication:

 

Communication from Robert J. Ameen, Esq., to Janice M. LaPorte, CMC, City Clerk.   (Withdrawing the application for Baalbaki, Inc. d/b/a Darlington Liquors, 346 Armistice Boulevard)

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Grebien, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED:

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Grebien, the following application for license is WITHDRAWN WITHOUT PREJUDICE, on a unanimous voice vote:

Communication from Ted P. Jackvony, President, Jacks Are Wild, Inc. d/b/a Left Field Bar & Grill, to the Honorable members of the Pawtucket City Council (Requesting permission to serve food and alcoholic beverages in the parking lot of 156-158 South Bend Street on Thursday, July 3, 2003, beginning at 4:00 p.m.) is READ AND ORDERED FILED, and is APPROVED WITH THE STIPULATIONS TO REMAIN IN PLACE, on a unanimous voice vote.

 

STIPULATIONS:

 

Entire area is temporarily fenced in.

Hire a Pawtucket Police Officer for crowd control.

Use one entrance only.

No one may leave the area with alcohol.

Maximum of 100 people in patio area.

 

Communication from Jie Ling Chan, Manager, Mei King Restaurant, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council (Requesting permission to sell ONLY food and soda in the parking lot of 211 South Bend Street on Thursday, July 3, 2003, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.), is READ AND ORDERED FILED, and is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote.

 

Communication from Domingos Baptista, owner of Ilha Verde Inc., to Council President John J. Barry III,  (Requesting to add d/b/a name “MINGO’S BAR & GRILL”) is READ AND ORDERED FILED, and is APPROVED PENDING FIRE INSPECTOR’S APPROVAL AND REPORT FROM THE FIRE MARSHALL.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Clemente, on behalf of Chairman Barry, seconded by Councilor Bray, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to all Class B, C, & D, Liquor License Holders, requesting that all doors to their establishments remain closed at all times.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, on behalf of Chairman Barry, seconded by Councilor Bray, the Ordinance Committee is requested to review the new State Law regarding increasing liquor license fees.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the meeting is adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
