Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at eight twenty-five o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilor Moran.
Chairman Barry presides.
The reading of the records of February 20, 2002, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.
A FORMAL HEARING regarding the following license is taken up:
CLASS B (Victualer)
Cidade Velha Lounge Inc d/b/a CV Lounge, 214 Broad St. LIC#10270
Representing the City of Pawtucket is Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., Assistant City Solicitor.
Representing the license holder is Henry H. Katz, Esq.
Larry DaSilva, license holder, is also present.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE.
Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the following stipulations are added to the following license:
CLASS B (Victualer)
Cidade Velha Lounge Inc d/b/a CV Lounge, 214 Broad St. LIC#10270
STIPULATIONS:
1. A detail officer shall be present at the establishment on each and every Friday and Saturday from 9:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. commencing Friday, March 8, 2002.
2. Entertainment shall only be allowed on Friday and Saturday.
3. All employees of the establishment who serve alcohol shall be Tips Certified and evidence that this requirement has been satisfied shall be forwarded to the City Clerk’s Office within 30 days.
4. The license holder shall be placed on probation for a six-month period and if any incidents occur during this time frame, which rise to the level of the incident, which took place on February 5, 2002, shall result in a five (5) day suspension and will result in the calling of a new formal hearing on this violation.
5. Removal of the pay phone in the establishment and this phone shall not be replaced without Council approval.
Communication from Michael F. Horan, Esq., to Janice M. LaPorte, CMC, City Clerk, requesting to change the name of the Class B (Victualer) license of Business Investment Group, Inc. d/b/a Ken’s Place to Business Investment Group, LLC d/b/a Ken’s Place, is READ AND ORDERED FILED, and the request to change the name of the Class B (Victualer) license from Business Investment Group, Inc. d/b/a Ken’s Place to Business Investment Group, LLC d/b/a Ken’s Place, is APPROVED ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE.
Communication from Thomas Brennan, Celtic Pub, 755 Broadway, to the Honorable City Council, requesting to permission to serve alcoholic beverages from a tent in the parking lot on Sunday, March 17, 2002, from 3:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.
Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, on behalf of Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Hoyas, and the request of Thomas Brennan, Celtic Pub, 755 Broadway, to serve alcoholic beverages from a tent in the parking lot on Sunday, March 17, 2002, from 3:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., is APPROVED ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE.
The following license is GRANTED on a unanimous voice vote:
CLASS F (Beer & Wine) –
Petition of CACD to serve Beer & Wine at a fundraiser at 120 High Street on Saturday, March 9, 2002, from 8:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., LIC#96 (4th License this year)
Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Clemente, the meeting is adjourned at nine two o’clock p.m.
