A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at eight o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Moran, and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilor Hoyas.
Chairman Barry presides.
The reading of the records of June 5, 2002, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.
Claim of Arcaro, Belilove, and Kolodney, objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of Dollar Derby Liquors, Inc., 239 Prospect Street to International Liquors, Inc., in the amount of $2,903.71, is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BRAY.
With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Bray introduces the following communications:
Claim of Arcaro, Belilove, and Kolodney, objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of Dollar Derby Liquors, Inc., 239 Prospect Street to International Liquors, Inc., in the corrected amount of $3,390.40.
Communication from Arcaro, Belilove, and Kolodney, releasing it’s objection to the Class A liquor license transfer of Dollar Derby Liquors, Inc. to International Liquors, Inc. at 239 Prospect Street.
Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Grebien, the following communications are READ AND ORDERED FILED:

COUNCILOR HOYAS ARRIVES AT EIGHT FIVE O’CLOCK P.M.
A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

International Liquors, Inc. d/b/a International Liquors of Prospect (Transfer from Dollar Derby Liquors, Inc.) 239 Prospect Street, LIC# 10306
Speaking in favor is Raymond Tomasso, Esq., representing applicant Emidio S. Alves.
Mr. Tomasso states that Mr. Alves will continue the same operation as Mr. Rosario has for the past 19 years.
Chairman Barry states that Mr. Rosario has operated one of the finest businesses in the city.
President Barry discusses a letter from Commander Ormerod regarding Mr. Alves Main Street location. Commander Ormerod states that this location ranks on the top of the list for calls to the Police Department for service.
President Barry states that he will not tolerate this type of loitering, etc., which would generate police calls to the Prospect Street location.
Councilor Bray speaks very highly of Mr. Alves’ operation on Main Street.
Mr. Alves states that he will operate the Prospect Street location personally.
The next speaker is Mr. Rosario, 45 Exeter Avenue.
Mr. Rosario has been the owner of Dollar Derby for the past 19 years and expects Mr. Alves to continue the same type of business and to respect the neighborhood.
There are no other speakers.

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Grebien, the following application for license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

International Liquors, Inc. d/b/a International Liquors of Prospect (Transfer from Dollar Derby Liquors, Inc.) 239 Prospect Street, LIC# 10306
Communication from Jie Ling Chan, Manager, Mei King Restaurant, 211 South Bend Street, requesting permission to sell food and Soda “Only” in the Parking Lot of 211 South Bend Street, on July 3, 2002, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., is READ AND ORDERED FILED, and is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote.
Communication from Ted P. Jackvony, President, Jacks Are Wild, Inc. d/b/a Left Field Bar & Grill, 156-158 South Bend Street, requesting permission to serve food and alcoholic beverages in the Parking Lot of 156-158 South Bend Street, on July 3, 2002, beginning at 4:00 p.m. is READ AND ORDERED FILED, and is APPROVED WITH THE STIPULATIONS TO REMAIN, on a unanimous voice vote.
STIPULATIONS:
Entire area is temporarily fenced in.
Hire a Pawtucket Police Officer for crowd control.
Use one entrance only.
No one may leave the area with alcohol.
Maximum of 100 people in patio area.
