Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners
December 11, 2002
A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at seven five o’clock p.m., in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present - Councilors Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.
Absent - Chairman Barry, and Councilor Bray.
Vice-Chairman Hodge presides. (See Minutes of the Pawtucket City Council -December 11, 2002, see Journal 70, Page 700)
The reading of the records of November 20, 2002, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR GREBIEN.
With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Grebien introduces the following communications:
Claim of Arcaro, Belilove, and Kolodney, objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of J.H.G. Liquors, Inc. d/b/a Countryside Liquors, 553 Armistice Boulevard, to Jady, Inc. d/b/a Countryside Liquors in the total amount of $17,110.11.
Claim of Arcaro, Belilove, and Kolodney, objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of J.H.G. Liquors, Inc. d/b/a Countryside Liquors, 553 Armistice Boulevard, to Jady, Inc. d/b/a Countryside Liquors in the amount of $2,144.96.
Claim of McLaughlin & Moran, Inc. objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of J.H.G. Liquors, Inc. d/b/a Countryside Liquors. 553 Armistice Boulevard, to Jady, Inc. d/b/a Countryside Liquors in the amount of $15,022.83.
Upon motion made by Councilor Grebien, seconded by Councilor Carr, the following communications are READ AND ORDERED FILED:

Speaking in favor is Joseph Lamagna, Esq., 716 Central Avenue, Attorney representing the applicant.
Mr. Lamagna states that his client is moving two doors down, from 1516 to 1520 Newport Avenue.
The liquor store will move to the corner of the building and is changing places with the convenience store. The existing owners will be running the liquor business.
Councilor Moran questions Mr. Lamagna if he is aware that the operators were caught for selling alcohol to minors in a recent sting operation.
Mr. Lamagna states that his clients are aware of the alleged violation.

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Grebien, the following application for license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

Speaking in favor is Monica Horan, Esq., 393 Armistice Boulevard, Attorney representing the applicant Ms. Gauthier.
Ms. Horan states that the applicant will operate the same type of business as the current owners, and will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Ms. Gauthier’s brother-in-law will run the store and he has 5-8 years experience in the retail liquor industry.
Ms. Gauthier’s husband will also be involved.
There are no other speakers.
