Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at eight two o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran, and Wildenhain.
Absent – Chairman Barry.
Vice -Chair Bray presides.
The reading of the records of September 5, 2001, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
THE FOLLOWING LICENSE WAS LAID ON THE TABLE AT THE MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2001, AND IS TAKEN UNDER ADVISEMENT ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE:
CLASS B (Victualer)
Romar Inc., d/b/a House Café, 520 Central Avenue, Pawtucket RI LIC# 10246.
Claim of Arcaro, Belilove and Kolodney objecting to the transfer of Class B (Victualer) liquor license of Sports Zone, Inc., 602 Smithfield Avenue, to Eugenio Gibau and Belarmino Darosa d/b/a Malibu Sports Lounge, 602 Smithfield Avenue, in the amount of $1,119.43, is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE.
With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Clemente introduces the following communication:
Claim of Arcaro, Belilove and Kolodney objecting to the transfer of Class B (Victualer) liquor license of Sports Zone, Inc., 602 Smithfield Avenue, to Eugenio Gibau and Belarmino Darosa d/b/a Malibu Sports Lounge, 602 Smithfield Avenue, in the amount of $9,000.86
Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED:

A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

STIPULATIONS
1. Entertainment allowed 1 day per week on either Fridays or Saturdays.
2. A Detail Police Officer shall be hired on Fridays and Saturdays between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. (added 5/9/01)
Speaking in favor is applicant, Eugenio Gibau, 280 Weeden Street, Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Gibau states that due to the Jewish Holiday on Tuesday, his lawyer was unable to complete the final paperwork needed with the previous owner.
Mr. Gibau asks that this matter be continued until the October 10, 2001, meeting.
There are no other speakers. The Hearing is closed.

Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the Public Hearing on following petition for license is RECESSED until the October 10, 2001, meeting of the Board of License Commissioners, on a unanimous voice vote:

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Robert Thibeault, Boson Associates, Inc. d/b/a Macondo, instructing him to attend an INFORMAL HEARING on October 10, 2001, regarding the recent activity at Macondo’s.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR HODGE.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Moran, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to George L. Kelley, III, Chief of Police, informing him that at the time of any Liquor License transfer, the City Clerk’s Office will be sending a communication requesting activity reports at the location of the license for the three months prior to the transfer.
