Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners
September 5, 2001
A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, September 5, 2001, at eight five o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Moran, and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilor Hoyas.
Chairman Barry presides.
The reading of the records of August 22, 2001, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
THE FOLLOWING LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 5, 2001, AND IS AGAIN TAKEN UP:
CLASS B (Victualer)
Romar Inc., d/b/a House Café, 520 Central Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. LIC #10246.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.
Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following license is LAID ON THE TABLE on a unanimous voice vote:

A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

Boson Associates, Inc. d/b/a Macondo, (Transfer from Macondo, LLC) 242 Middle Street, LIC# 10296
PREVIOUS STIPULATIONS:
1. All bartenders must be TIPS Certified.
2. All property taxes must be paid in full.
3. Water bills must be paid in full and brought up to date.
Speaking in favor is Robert Thibault, 1044 Lonsdale Avenue, Central Falls, RI, and Greg Negron, 49 Webster Street, Pawtucket, RI.
Mr. Negron states that he is the manager of this business, and the reason this license is requesting transfer is that the previous owner was unable to perform his duties as the owner. Transactions and bills were not being paid.
Mr. Thibault was requested to take back the business, since there was no support from the current owner.
Mr. Negron states that they will run the same type of business; there will be no changes. He will continue to manage the business and will work well with Mr. Thibault.
Councilor Moran questions why the license was not placed in both Mr. Thibault and Mr. Negron’s names.
Mr. Thibault states that Mr. Negron is not financially able to do that at this time. Hopefully he will be able to in the future.
There are no other speakers. The Hearing is closed.

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Clemente, the following license is APPROVED WITH THE FOLLOWING STIPULATIONS on a unanimous voice vote:

Speaking in favor is Paul Bettencourt, Attorney for the Applicant, 1481 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, RI.
Mr. Bettencourt states that Lawrence DaSilva will the sole owner of this business and has owned Restaurant Praia since 1995 at a previous location.
Mr. Bettencourt states that Mr. DaSilva will have the same type of operation as the Blarney Stone. Mr. DaSilva will operate the business and will have Karokee entertainment. All bartenders are TIPS Certified.
There are no other speakers. The Hearing is closed.
