A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at seven fifty o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Hodge, Moran, and Wildenhain.

 

Absent –Councilor Grebien

 

Chairman Barry presides.

 

 

The reading of the records of March 7, 2001, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BRAY.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Bray introduces the following communication:

 

 

Communication from Arcaro, Belilove and Kolodney, releasing the objection of transfer of Class A liquor license of East Street Liquors, Inc., 183 East Street, to Manmar Inc., d/b/a East Street Liquors.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Clemente, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED:   

 

Communication from Arcaro, Belilove and Kolodney, releasing the objection of transfer of Class A liquor license of East Street Liquors, Inc., 183 East Street, to Manmar Inc., d/b/a East Street Liquors.

 

 

A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

Manmar Inc., d/b/a East Street Liquors (Transfer from East Street Liquors, Inc.) 183 East Street, LIC# 10289

 

Present at the hearing are the following:

 

Scott Partington, Attorney, representing the applicant

 

Manuel B. Barreira, 150 Hillside Avenue, Pawtucket RI., Applicant.

 

Attorney Partington states that all approvals are in except for the fire approval.

 

This license has no prior stipulations.

 

Attorney Partington states that the applicant has no prior experience.

 

Councilor Moran makes applicant aware of the sting operation, and also of previous violations.

 

There are no person or persons appearing to object thereto.

 

There are no other speakers.

 

The Hearing is closed.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the following license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

Manmar Inc., d/b/a East Street Liquors (Transfer from East Street Liquors, Inc.) 183 East Street, LIC# 10289

 

 

Claim of Arcaro, Belilove and Kolodney objecting to the transfer of Class A liquor license of East Street Liquors, Inc., 183 East Street, to Manmar Inc., d/b/a East Street Liquors., in the amount of $5,024.55, is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

 

Communication from Chief George L. Kelley III, to Pawtucket City Council Board of License Commissioners (Regarding The Sports Zone Inc., d/b/a Pit Bar & Grille, 602 Smithfield Avenue, - Open after hours.) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Bray, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The clerk is instructed to issue a summons to the officers of the following Class B (Victualer) Liquor License to appear at an INFORMAL HEARING scheduled for Wednesday, April 11, 2001, for remaining open after hours.

The Sports Zone Inc., d/b/a Pit Bar & Grille, 602 Smithfield Avenue, LIC#10263

 

 

Communication from Lisa Ann Almeida, President, Romar Inc., d/b/a Club Nowhere, 520 Central Avenue, to the members of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners requesting permission to change the trade name to House Café, is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Moran, is PASSED on an unanimous voice vote:

 

Permission granted to Lisa Ann Almeida, President, Romar Inc., d/b/a Club Nowhere, 520 Central Avenue, to change the trade name to House Café,

 

 

The following license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR CLEMENTE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Clemente introduces the following:

Petition of Ondas Di Mar Di Furna to sell alcoholic beverages at a Fund Raiser Dance at 120 High Street, on Saturday March 24, 2001, from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. LIC#77

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Clemente, seconded by Councilor Bray, the following license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote.

Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the meeting is adjourned at eight o’clock p.m.
