A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, October 11, 2000, at seven forty o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilors Hodge, Hoyas and Moran.
Chairman Barry presides.
The reading of the records of September 20, 2000, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

Teodoro & Benvindo Depina, d/b/a E. A. Tavern (transfer from Fred’s Place Inc.) 4 Grace Street, LIC# 10282
Speaking in favor is Christopher Maselli, Attorney representing applicant.
Mr. Maselli states that the applicants are buying the property from Mr. Fred Mello and will run the operation as a family type business.
Mr. Teodoro Depina and Mr. Benvindo Depina, are brothers and will operate the business.
Speaking in favor is Teodoro Depina, and Benvindo Depina, applicants.
Teodoro Depina states, upon questioning by Council President Barry, that he has operated a similar establishment in Providence for nine years.
He states that there will be no change in the current operation, and they will improve the building.
They are both T.I.P.S certified also certified are Teodoro Depina’s wife and son, who will be helping with the operation of the business.
Council President Barry states that there has never been complaints from the neighbors regarding this business and will expect that this will continue.

Claim of Arcaro, Belilove, & Kolodney, Attorneys at Law, objecting to the transfer of a Class B (Victualer) Liquor License of Gesang Verein Eintracht-German Singing Society to The German / American Cultural Society of Rhode Island, 78 Carter Avenue, in the amount of $371.62.
Upon motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

Speaking in favor is Harry Schmidt, President of the German American Cultural Society of RI.
Mr. Schmidt states that the Gesang Verein Eintracht Corporation has been disbanded and no longer exists.
The German American Cultural Society is the sole owner of the property and is therefore requesting the Council’s permission to approve the change in this license.
