Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at seven forty-five o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Present – Chairman Barry, Councilors Bray, Carr, Clemente, Grebien, Hodge, Hoyas, Moran and Wildenhain.
Absent – 0
Chairman Barry presides.
The reading of the records of March 8, 2000, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
The following license was LAID ON THE TABLE at the March 8, 2000, meeting is again taken up and is LAID ON THE TABLE on a unanimous voice vote.
CLASS B (VICTUALER)
Caribbean Entertainment Inc. d/b/a Cosmopolitan Club (transfer of 100% stockholders), 25 Roosevelt Avenue extension LIC#10269.
Communication from Ronald F. Travers, Director of Zoning & Code Enforcement, to Council President John J. Barry, III, and City Council Members, regarding Cosmopolitan Club, is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

Speaking in favor is Paul G. Bettencourt, 481 Wampanog Trail, East Providence, Attorney for petitioner Lawrence DaSilva.
Mr. DaSilva states that he has owned Reataurant Praia since 1995, and has experience in this type of business.
Mr. Bettencourt states that the hours and type of operation will be the same as Bob’s Lounge, and they may have entertainment on a small level.
There are no speakers in opposition.

Upon motion made by Councilor Carr, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following license is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote.

Memorandum from Janice M. LaPorte, CMC, City Clerk, to the Honorable members of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, listing those liquor establishments that did not attend the mandatory S.T.O.P. session, is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote.
The clerk is instructed to send a letter to those liquor establishments that did not attend the mandatory S.T.O.P. session, requesting that they appear at an informal hearing of the Board of License Commissioner, to explain why they did not attend.
Communication from Commander Stephen P. Ormerod, to Chief George L. Kelley, III, (Activity report – Club Cosmopolitian, March 10, 11, 12, 2000.) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
Communication from the German American Cultural Society, requesting permission to serve beer from a tent in the Parking lot of the German Club, 78 Carter Avenue, on Sunday June 25, 2000, from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., is READ AND ORDERED FILED.
Request to serve beer from a tent in the parking lot of the German Club, 78 Carter Avenue, is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote.
