A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at eight sixteen o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Pawtucket, RI. All the members are present except Councilor Hoyas; Chairman Barry presides.
The reading of the records of June 10, 1998, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.
Claim of United Credit Services, Inc., objecting to the transfer of Class A Liquor License of Narragansett Discount Liquors, Inc., d/b/a One Stop Liquors, 390 Smithfield Avenue, Pawtucket, RI, to Vartanian Liquor Corp., in the amount of $8,855.09 is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

A public hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

Speaking in favor is Joseph Raheb, Attorney, 650 Washington Highway, Lincoln, RI.
Mr. Raheb is representing the applicants:
Corri Vartanian, 7 Pasquale Dr., Cumberland, RI
Penelope Vartanian, 39 Marlaine Dr., Seekonk, Ma.
Ms. Penelope Vartanian responds to questions from Councilor Vieira regarding any experience in this type of business. Ms. Vartanian states that she and her husband owned a store in Providence three years ago, and they never had any problems. She states that Corri will operate the store daily at the same hours as the previous owner. She is TIPS certified. She will employ some of the long standing employees.
Corri Vartanian also states that her husband will also be working in the store and is TIPS certified.
Councilor Vieira reviews the laws regarding selling to underaged persons and informs the applicants that the police patrol this type of business. Councilor Vieira also stresses the need to keep the area clean, as the previous owner did.
There are no other speakers.

Upon motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Bray, the following application for license transfer is GRANTED on a unanimous voice vote, PENDING THE SETTLEMENT OF ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS:
