Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners.

January 10, 1996.

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners, is held Wednesday, January 10, 1996, at eight thirteen o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Pawtucket, RI. All the members are present and Chairman Barry presides.

 

The reading of the Records of December 27, 1995, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

A formal hearing is held on the following:

 

CLASS A

 

Ghanam Enterprises Inc., d/b/a Liquor City, 459 Mineral Spring Avenue.

 

Representing the city is Christopher Fay, Attorney, Legal Department.

 

Also speaking is Anthony N. Leomensah, applicant, 46 California Ave., Providence, RI.

 

Representing the applicant is Kevin Horan, Attorney, 393 Armistice Blvd.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BRAY.

 

The following motion made by Councilor Bray, seconded by Councilor Vieira, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a FORMAL WARNING to Ghanam Enterprises Inc., d/b/a Liquor City, 459 Mineral Spring Avenue, stating that any further violations against this establishment will result in further action by the Board of License Commissioners, including additional fines, suspension or revocation of the Class A liquor license.

 

Also, the following stipulation is added to the license:

 

All current and future employees shall be required to be TIPS certified.

Haxton’s of Pawtucket, Inc., 457 Lonsdale Avenue

 

Representing the city is Christopher Fay, Attorney, Legal Department.

 

Representing Haxton’s is Joseph Keough, Jr., Attorney, 100 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, RI.

The following motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Bray, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a FORMAL WARNING to Haxton’s of Pawtucket, Inc., 457 Lonsdale Avenue, stating that any further violations against this establishment will result in further action by the Board of License Commissioners, including additional fines, suspension or revocation of the Class A liquor license.

 

Also, the following stipulation is added to the license:

Also speaking is Lt. Richard Rousseau, Pawtucket Police Department.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MORAN.

 

The following motion made by Councilor Moran, seconded by Councilor Vieira, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a FORMAL WARNING AND FINE to J.R. $av-On-Liquors, Inc., 350 Benefit Street, stating that any further violations against this establishment will result in further action by the Board of License Commissioners, including additional fines, suspension or revocation of the Class A liquor license.

 

The fine shall be in the amount of $500, which is due no later than Friday, January 12, 1996.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

 

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Vieira introduces the following communication:

 

Communication from R. Kevin Horan, Attorney, to Joseph Gallucci, State Liquor Control Administrator, requesting a stay of the revocation of Class B (Limited) liquor license to El Castillo Restaurant, Inc., 3 Garden Street , Pawtucket, RI, and appealing the decision of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners.

 

Upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the following communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED:

 

Communication from R. Kevin Horan, Attorney, to Joseph Gallucci, State Liquor Control Administrator, requesting a stay of the revocation of Class B (Limited) liquor license to El Castillo Restaurant, Inc., 3 Garden Street, Pawtucket, RI, and appealing the decision of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners.

 

Upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Hodge, the meeting is adjourned at eight forty-five o’clock p.m
