June 23, 1993.

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, June 23, 1993, at seven forty-four o’clock p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Pawtucket, RI. All the Members are present except Councilor Rabbitt; Chairman Barry presides.

 

The reading of the Records of June 9, 1993, is dispensed with and the Records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

THE FOLLOWING PETITION FOR LICENSE IS TAKEN UP:

 

CLASS F (Beer & Wine)

 

Employees Association of OSRAM Sylvania Co., (formerly GTE) to sell beer & wine at the Annual Family Picnic to be held at Slater Park, on Saturday, July 31, 1993, from 12 Noon until 6:00 PM. LIC #29

 

Captain Patrick McConaghy, representing Chief DeLyon, states that the Police Department is opposed to any alcohol being served in public parks. If the City Council wishes to grant this license to serve alcohol in a public park the Police Chief would require five detail officers on duty and recommends a $1 Million liability insurance policy.

 

Mr. John Nicholson, representing the Employees Association of OSRAM Sylvania Company, 58 Florence Avenue, So. Attleboro, MA, states that he has no problem with the five detailed officers that the police department is requesting, but will have to speak to others about the $1 Million liability insurance policy.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

 

With majority consent of the Council, upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Kinder, the following Petition for license is LAID ON THE TABLE on a unanimous voice vote:

The following application for license is LAID ON THE TABLE on a unanimous voice vote:

A Wish Come True to sell beer & wine at a Fund Raiser Softball Tournament at Slater Park on Friday, August 20, Saturday, August 21, Sunday, August 22, 1993. LIC #31

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR VIEIRA.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Kinder, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is requested to invite a representative of A Wish Come True to attend the next Council meeting scheduled for July 9, 1993.

 

The following application for license is GRANTED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

Pawtucket Jaycees to sell beer & wine at the Octoberfest in the Roosevelt Avenue/Downtown Pawtucket Area on Saturday, October 2, and Sunday October 3, 1993, from 10 AM - 7 PM. LIC #32.

 

State of Rhode Island, Liquor Control Administration, submitting decision in the matter of DVK Enterprises, Inc., (Suspension Order of Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is Vacated) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

With majority consent of the Council, Councilor Vieira introduces the following communication:

 

Communication from Anthony V. Arico, Jr., Acting Liquor Administrator, regarding Council’s request for opinion on granting a liquor license within 200 feet of a church.

 

Upon Motion made by Councilor Vieira, seconded by Councilor Kinder the following Communication is READ AND ORDERED FILED:
