Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners.

August 8, 1990.

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners is held Wednesday, August 8, 1990, at seven forty o’clock p.m. All the members are present except Councilman Rabbitt and Chairman Houle presides.

 

The reading of the records of July 25, 1990, is dispensed with and the records are approved as prepared by the Clerk.

 

Police Report #90-56365 regarding Portugalia Liquors at 225 Barton Street (Selling alcohol to minors) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILMAN DOYLE.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilman Doyle, seconded by Councilman Kinder, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to ask the Police Department for the disposition of this case.

 

Claim from Arcaro, Belilove and Kolodney, Attorneys at Law, against the transfer of Liquor License of D W & G Inc to C C & D D Inc., at 602 Smithfield Avenue, in the amount of $3,835.72 is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

A Public Hearing is held on the following application for license advertised for this time:

 

CLASS B (VICTUALER):

 

C C & D D Inc d/b/a Dazzle’s (transfer from D W & G Inc d/b/a Dazzle’s) 602 Smithfield Ave LIC #152

 

Speaking in favor is Jonathan Oster, Attorney, 936 Smithfield Avenue, Lincoln, RI, representing applicant Christopher Collins, President of CC & DD Inc., 12 Kenmore Way, Lincoln, RI.

 

Mr. Collins is the sole applicant and has paid all the bills to the suppliers. He will run the same type of business but plans to expand menu is September. He is aware of problems with entertainment. Mr. Collins states that he is familiar with the liquor business as his father owns a liquor store and he has worked at Dazzle’s since April of 1990. He states that there have been no problems with the police since he has been there.

 

There are no speakers in opposition.

 

The hearing is closed.

 

Upon Motion made by Councilman Barry, seconded by Councilman Kinder, the following application for license is APPROVED PENDING THE CLEARANCE OF ALL OUTSANDING CLAIMS, on a unanimous voice vote:

The following license is GRANTED ON A ROLL CALL VOTE, AS FOLLOWS:

 

AYES - President Houle, Councilmembers Barry, Calista, Doyle, Kinder, Robert Lynch, and Vieira.

A Wish Come True to sell Beer & Wine at Softball Tournament at Slater Park, Bailey Field, on Friday, August 24th from 5 PM - 11 PM; Saturday, August 25th from 9 AM - 10 PM; Sunday, August 26th from 9 AM - 10 PM. LIC #18

 

The following license is GRANTED on a unanimous voice vote WITH A CORRECTION IN TIME; I.E. SATURDAY CHANGE TO 7 PM FROM 8 PM AND SUNDAY CHANGE TO 1 PM FROM 7 PM:

Holy Spirit Society of St. Anthony’s, to sell alcoholic beverages at its Annual Feast Celebration at 27 Forest Avenue (Church Hall) on Saturday, September 1st from 7 PM - 12 Midnight; Sunday, September 2nd from 1 PM - 12 Midnight. LIC #19.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILMAN CALISTA.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilman Calista, seconded by Councilman Kinder, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to request the owner of the Dublin Inn, 214-216 Columbus Avenue to appear at a pre-council session on August 22, 1990, regarding neighborhood complaints.

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCIMAN VIEIRA.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following Motion made by Councilman Vieira, seconded by Councilmen Calista and Kinder, is passed on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to request the owner of Portugalia Liquors, 225-227 Barton Street to appear at a pre-council session on August 22, 1990, regarding the police complaint of selling alcoholic beverages to minors.

 

Upon Motion made by Councilman Barry, seconded by Councilman Kinder, the meeting is adjourned at seven fifty-five o’clock p.m.
