A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council was held Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 7:39 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Present – President Mercer, Councilors Araujo, Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Rubio, Stachowiak and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0.

 

President Mercer presided.

 

 

1.      The reading of the records of the November 20, 2024 City Council meeting was dispensed with and the records were APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

2.      Upon motion made by Councilor Araujo, seconded by Councilor Moreno, the *Consent Agenda was APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

B.     1 - Communication from Michael J. Cioe, President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4, to His Honor, Mayor Donald R. Grebien, appointing Officer Mark Ramos to serve as a member of the Police/Fire Pension Board

           

C.     THE FOLLOWING CLAIM FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THE CITY WAS REFERRED TO THE COMMITTEE ON CLAIMS AND PENDING SUITS:

A.    623 - Communication from Paul Gallagher, Director of Human Resources, to the Honorable Terrence E. Mercer, Pawtucket City Council President (Requests for Information from Department of Human Resources) WAS READ AND ORDERED FILED

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZED COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilors Gregor and Stachowiak, was PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk was instructed to send a communication to Ryan Holt, Chief of Staff, requesting a full accounting for all ARPA funds and answering the following questions:

 

1.       How much did the city get in ARPA funds?

2.      How much has been expended already, broken down by the various categories of eligible spending?

3.      How much is currently obligated?

4.      With the December 31, 2024 deadline to obligate all funds, are there any funds that have not yet been obligated or spent.  If so, how much in unobligated funds are there, and what is the plan for using these funds?  

 

 

Communication from Michael J. Cioe, President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4, to His Honor, Mayor Donald R. Grebien, appointing Major Michael Kane to serve as a retired member of the Pawtucket Police Department on the Pension Board WAS READ AND ORDERED FILED AND THE APPOINTMENT WAS APPROVED ON A ROLL CALL VOTE, AS FOLLOWS:

 

AYES – President Mercer, Councilors Araujo, Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Rubio, Stachowiak and Wildenhain.

 

NOES – 0.

 

UPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE COMMITTEE ON CLAIMS AND PENDING SUITS, THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING CLAIM FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THE CITY WAS APPROVED ON A ROLL CALL VOTE, AS FOLLOWS:

 

AYES – President Mercer, Councilors Araujo, Coderre, Gregor, Moran, Moreno, Rubio, Stachowiak and Wildenhain.

 

NOES – 0.

UPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE COMMITTEE ON CLAIMS AND PENDING SUITS, THE MOTION TO POSTPONE THE FOLLOWING CLAIM FOR FURTHER STUDY WAS APPROVED ON A UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE:

Council President Mercer adjourned the meeting in memory of Florence Wildenhain at 8:46 PM.
