City Council, September 21, 2022

 

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 8:01 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, DaRosa, Gregor, Mercer, Stachowiak, Vasquez and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Schuette.

 

President Moran presides.

 

 

The reading of the records of the September 7, 2022 meetings of the City Council, Animal Control Committee, Committee on Claims and Pending Suits, Ordinance Committee, City Property Committee and Finance Committee are dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Araujo, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

028      A.     Resolution from the Town of Coventry designating September 24, 2022 as Coventry Community Wellness Day.

           

3          B.     Communication from 3rd District Councilor, Terrence Mercer, Cheryl McWilliams, Superintendent, and Erin Dube, Chairperson of the School Committee, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council (Response – School Construction Assistance)

           

            E.      THE FOLLOWING CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THE CITY IS REFERRED TO THE COMMITTEE ON CLAIMS AND PENDING SUITS:

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor DaRosa, seconded by Councilor Mercer, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Sgt. Peter Spetelunas requesting that the Pawtucket Police Department provide the City Council with a list of places where the speed trailer is currently scheduled to be located.

 

 

 

616      C.     Communication from Michael Burns, Traffic Engineer, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council (Response - Traffic studies at Jefferson Ave, Randall Street and West Avenue and infractions at Main Street and Warren Avenue) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor DaRosa, seconded by Councilor Araujo, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Michael Burns, Traffic Engineer, requesting the Traffic Division place additional crosswalks and signage at Moore Park as they plan to do at Payne Park.

Communication from John Blais, Parks and Recreation Director, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council, (Parks Commission’s review on the Purchase & Sales Agreement for property located at 724 Pleasant Street).

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE AND SALE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET AND THE RIVERSIDE BURIAL SOCIETY OF PAWTUCKET A/K/A RIVERSIDE CEMETERY TO PURSUE ACQUISITION ON 9.49 ACRES OF UNDEVELOPED LAND GENERALLY LOCATED AT 724 PLEASANT STREET; ASSESSOR’S PLAT 67, LOTS 02, 03, 08 AND NORTHERNMOST PORTIONS OF LOT 15.

588      RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TAX ASSESSOR TO ISSUE A CREDIT IN THE FORM OF A REDUCTION IN VALUE FOR THE REAL ESTATE LOCATED AT 675 BEVERAGE HILL AVE, PLAT 41 LOT 387 IN AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO A REDUCTION IN TAX OF $85,000 FOR THE YEARS 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 AND 2027.   (Amalgamated Financial Group IV)

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REPLACING THE SCHEDULE OF PAY RATES FOR LOCAL 1012 IN §88-12 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET, 1996 (DELETE Library Page and Library Senior Page, Add Library Aide).
