A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 8:32 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.  Video

Absent – Councilors Gregor and Wildenhain.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR DAROSA.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor DaRosa, seconded by Councilor Mercer, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Tina Goncalves, Police Chief and Acting Public Safety Director, regarding her letter to Peter Alviti, Jr., regarding homeless encampments along the highway.  The council wants to know:

1.     Does she and the administration agree with the letter from Robert Rocchio, P.E., from RIDOT, on this subject, which was attached to the letter to Mr. Alviti?

 

2.     If they do not agree with Mr. Rocchio’s letter and if Director Alviti concurs with it when he responds to her letter, do they plan to reach out to the state police and the governor’s office for assistance on this matter?

3.     Regardless of any assistance received from RIDOT, is there a plan for assisting the homeless and dealing with homeless encampments as the weather gets colder in the months ahead?  What agencies are they working with to assist with this issue?

 

 

609      Communication from Christopher Montalto, Distribution Design Supervisor of RI Energy to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council requesting permission to install a new sole pole at Dartmouth Street is READ AND ORDERED FILED and APPROVED PENDING THE APPROVAL OF THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS, on a unanimous voice vote.
