A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 7:21 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, Barry, Kallman, Mercer, Rudd, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Vasquez.

 

President Moran presides.

 

 

THE COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING:

With majority consent of the Council, upon motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, the following amendment to the ordinance entitled “AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 410 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET 1996, ENTITLED “ZONING”, ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION OVERLAY DISTRICT” IS NOT TAKEN UP:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Chief Tina Goncalves, Pawtucket Police Department, requesting that a speed trailer be set up on the 100 block of Power Road.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to the RI Department of Environmental Management requesting an update on when the rules and regulations regarding the issuance of waste management facility licenses will be updated to reflect the new language added to RIGL§23-18.9-8 in 2018. Also, the Council is requesting an update on the permit status of the Grotto Avenue transfer station operated by Waste Connections.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Araujo, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication Eric J. Earls, PE, Director of Public Works, requesting that they look into the feasibility of having the street sweeper available for an hour or two when a community cleanup is being done.

 

The Council feels that having a street sweeper available may be safer and more efficient way to clean the streets.  They are asking if this type of program may be possible.

 

 

The following resolution is read and PASSED on a roll call vote, as follows:

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Dylan Zelazo, Director of Administration, regarding dog waste bags for the stands that were installed.  The bags are not being purchased nor the stands refilled.   The Council is asking why this money was taken out of the budget, what was the cost of these bags and can the money be found to restore this program.
