City Council, June 19, 2019

 

 

A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 7:16     p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, Barry, Mercer, Rudd, Vasquez, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Kallman.

 

President Moran presides.

 

The reading of the records of the June 5, 2019 City Council meeting, Committee on Claims and Pending Suits meeting, Substance Abuse/D.A.R.E. Fund Committee meeting and Finance Committee meeting is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Araujo, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Rudd, seconded by councilor Barry, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Fire Chief William Sisson requested that he look into the possibility of starting a “Safe Station Program,” as they have in Providence.  Under this program, anyone with a substance abuse problem can go to any Providence fire station 24/7 and immediately get connected to treatment support and services.  The council suggests that Chief Sisson contact Providence officials to get information on the program to determine if it would be beneficial to the residents and financially feasible for Pawtucket.
