A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 7:20 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, Barry, Kallman, Mercer, Rudd, Vasquez, Vitali and Wildenhain.

THE COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING:

 

AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 410 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET 1996, ENTITLED “ZONING” – CHANGE IN OFFICIAL ZONING MAP (Addition of 16 Kenilworth Way, AP64 L617, to the Historic District)

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., City Solicitor, regarding the Evergreen, union contract, lawsuit.  They want to know his estimate of how long the lawsuit will take, the estimated cost to the city and which line item will this be paid from.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., City Solicitor, requesting a legal opinion to determine if, per State law, the City needs to show on the signs the times that the speed zones cameras are in effect.   He states that this is done in Providence.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., City Solicitor, requesting all labor arbitration decisionss since September 26, 2019.

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Kallman, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Tina Goncalves, Chief of Police, regarding the speed camera on South Bend Street, which is consistently reading 44 mph.   The Council is asking if this is an indication that the camera needs to be checked or calibrated. The Council is asking how they can ensure the cameras are working properly.   The Council would like to know if there is a problem with any cameras.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to the Traffic Division of the City of Providence, regarding the test of traffic changes at Hope Street and Chace Avenue, and requesting that they share the results of the test and the intent with the traffic pattern after the test is done.
