City Council, October 29, 2018

 

 

A special session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Monday, October 29, 2018, at 6:01 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, Mercer, Tetreault, Vitali, and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilors Barry, Kallman and Rudd.

 

President Moran presides.

 

 

 

Communication from Council President David P. Moran, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council, calling a Special Session of the City Council on Monday, October 29, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

 

 

Communication from Mayor Donald R. Grebien to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council (Apex Properties) is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

 

 

THE FOLLOWING MATTER IS TAKEN UP:

 

Discussion and Strategy Session on the acquisition of the following properties: 100 Main Street-Apex building (Plat 23, Lot 553), 101 Main Street-Berry Building (Plat 23, Lot 670), 1 School Street, also known as 33 Main Street-Apex Tire Center (Plat 23, Lot 562), 10 School Street-Apex overflow parking lot (Plat 23, Lot 542), and 46 Main Street-former St. George's Church site (Plat 23, lot 541)  

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MERCER.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Araujo, the Council enters into Executive Session at 6:03 p.m., pursuant to §42-46-4 and §42-46-5 (A)(5) of the General Laws of Rhode Island regarding the acquisition or lease of real property for public purposes, on a roll call vote, as follows:

 

AYES – President Moran, Councilors Araujo, Mercer, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

NOES – 0.

 

The Council discusses and has a strategy session on the acquisition of the following properties: 100 Main Street-Apex building (Plat 23, Lot 553), 101 Main Street-Berry Building (Plat 23, Lot 670), 1 School Street, also known as 33 Main Street-Apex Tire Center (Plat 23, Lot 562), 10 School Street-Apex overflow parking lot (Plat 23, Lot 542), and 46 Main Street-former St. George's Church site (Plat 23, lot 541)

Upon motion made by Councilor Araujo, seconded by Councilor Mercer, the Council returns to open session at 7:23 p.m., on a roll call vote, as follows:

 

AYES — President Moran, Councilors Araujo, Barry, Mercer, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

NOES - 0.

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Mercer, the minutes of the meeting held in executive session are sealed on a roll call vote, as follows:

 

AYES — President Moran, Councilors Araujo, Barry, Mercer, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

NOES - 0.

 

 

The Council gets an update and discusses strategies regarding the acquisition of the above-referenced properties.  No votes are taken.
