A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at 8:27 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Barry, Cano, Kallman, Mercer, Rudd, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0.

The reading of the January 10, 2018 records of the City Council, Committee on Claims and Pending Suits, Ordinance Committee, City Property Committee, and Finance Committee is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Joel J. Votolato, Esq., requesting a legal opinion/interpretation on several ordinances regarding transfer stations in Pawtucket, in comparison with opinions submitted by City Solicitor Frank Milos, specifically:

 

1.     The ordinance prohibiting transfer stations on private property in Pawtucket.

2.     The ordinance requiring transfer station licenses held by private entities to be approved by the city council,

3.     The prohibition in the zoning ordinance of C&D facilities in Pawtucket.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to His Honor, Mayor Donald R. Grebien, urging the administration to consider how the opioid lawsuit could reflect the needs of those addicted to opioids.  For example, if the city receives any money from the lawsuit, the City should consider using the proceeds for opioid treatment and prevention programs.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Andrew Silvia, Project Manager, regarding a recent meeting that Councilor Wildenhain attended to discuss upcoming traffic flow improvements around the schools in his district.  The Council is asking why all district councilors have not been invited to similar meetings in their districts and want to be sure to be invited to future meetings on the subject.
