City Council, May 30, 2017

 

 

A special session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 5:36 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present –President Moran, Councilors Barry, Mercer, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – Councilor Cano, Kallman, and Rudd.

 

President Moran presides.

 

 

THE COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE AMENDMENTS TO THE ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET ORDINANCE 2017-2018.

591   Communication from Council President David P. Moran, calling a Special Session of the City Council on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 5:30 p.m., is READ AND ORDERED FILED.

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MERCER.

 

Upon motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Vitali, the agenda is amended to include the following communications on a unanimous voice vote:

 

1       Communication from Tina Goncalves, Acting Chief of Police, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council, requesting reconsideration of the proposed reductions to the Department of Public Safety’s budget.

Upon motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilor Barry, the following ordinance is LAID ON THE TABLE AND REFERRED TO THE LICENSE COMMITTEE on a unanimous voice vote:

330   AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 3096 OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET ESTABLISHING A PAY PLAN FOR THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET FOR LOCAL 3960 (Senior Appraisal Technician/Tangible Property Specialist; Beautification Supervisor; Supervisor of Passive Parks; Registrar Board of Canvassers; Police Identification Bureau Assistant) AS AMENDED.

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR BARRY.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Barry, on behalf of Council President Moran, seconded by Councilor Vitali, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Susan Mara, Acting Director, Planning & Redevelopment, requesting that Planning research other cities ordinances and guidelines regarding residential lighting on how lighting affects neighbors.  The Council is looking for a draft ordinance to review for their second meeting in June.
