A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 8:04 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Barry, Bray, Cano, Hodge, Mercer, Rudd, Tetreault and Wildenhain

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barry, the Council requests a joint meeting of the Ordinance Committee and Finance Committee to be held on November 9, 2016 to discuss COLA’s for Widows benefits.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barry, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., City Solicitor, requesting a timetable on the Federal Case regarding retirees’ COLA’s.

 

 

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR RUDD.

 

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made Councilor Rudd, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to His Honor Mayor Donald R. Grebien, regarding the status of the GPS pilot program for city vehicles taken home by city employees.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made Councilor Rudd, seconded by Councilor Tetreault, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to His Honor Mayor Donald R. Grebien and Joanna L’Heureux, Finance Director, requesting to know how much of the money allocated for marketing the city in this year’s budget has been spent.  Regarding social media, how much of the cost of the city’s Facebook account has come from this marketing money and has it been worthwhile?

The Clerk is instructed to schedule a joint Recreation and Ordinance Committee meeting for November 22, 2016 and invite Mr. Arteaga.   The Clerk is further instructed to have the McKinnon Alves Soccer Complex on the agenda and send notice to residents of McAloon Street, Tally Street, and Farrell Street.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Barry, on behalf of Council President Moran, seconded by Councilors Rudd and Cano, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to His Honor Mayor Donald R. Grebien requesting a status report on the meetings with Southern Sky Renewable Energy and Clean Economy Development LLC, regarding solar and other renewable energy programs.  The council would like to know where the administration is headed on renewable energy and how the council fits into the process.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Joanna L’Heureux, Finance Director, congratulating her for winning the prestigious 2016 Robert M. Goodrich Distinguished Public Service Award from the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council.
