A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 7:09 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. 

 

Present – President Moran, Councilors Barry, Bray, Cano, Hodge, Mercer, Rudd, Tetreault and Wildenhain.

 

Absent – 0

 

President Moran presides.

 

THE CITY COUNCIL RECESSES IMMEDIATELY TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING:

 

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET TO ENTER INTO A TEN-YEAR REAL ESTATE TAX STABILIZATION AGREEMENT WITH ISLE BREWERS GUILD, INC., FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 461 MAIN STREET, PAWTUCKET, RI, ALSO KNOWN AS PLAT 53 LOTS 627 AND 577

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Barry, seconded by Councilor Wildenhain, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Barney S. Heath, Director, Planning & Redevelopment, requesting that he provide the Council members a complete history on 50 Perrin Avenue by Friday morning, January 8, 2016.  The history should include all owners of the property, all citations, fines, other court decisions and liens placed on the property.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Rudd, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Ordinance Committee is requested to review a discrepancy on the COLA benefits for police and firefighter widows between a resolution approved on June 8, 2006 and ordinance Chapter 2836, which was passed on December 15, 2006.

With majority consent of the Council, President Moran requests that the Ordinance Committee review the city’s solicitation ordinance in light of the recent lawsuit by the ACLU in Cranston regarding their solicitation ordinance.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Rudd, on behalf of Council President Moran, seconded by Councilor Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:

 

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to His Honor, Mayor Donald R. Grebien, regarding three new economic development programs being implemented by Governor Raimondo – the Main Street/Streetscape program, the tax stabilization program and the anchor institution tax credit program.  The City Council is requesting that the administration notify the Council and its Economic Development Committee right away whenever a company expresses an interest in any of those programs.
