City Council, August 20, 2014
A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 12:17 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Moran, Councilors Barros, Barry, Hodge, Mercer, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain
Absent – Councilor Rudd.
President Moran presides.
The reading of the records of August 6, 2014, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk. 08/06/2014
Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Tetreault, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR MERCER.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Mercer, seconded by Councilor Barros, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Michael Araujo, Chair, Pawtucket School Committee, extending the Council’s appreciation for the response to their request for the minutes of their meeting on the food services contract.
The Council stated that if the Wellness sub-committee did not meet nor make a recommendation on the food services contract, then there is no reason for them to come to the September 10th meeting.
If a different sub-committee met or made a recommendation on the contract, then the Council is requesting a copy of that sub-committee’s minutes on the subject and attendance at the September 10, 2014 Council Meeting.
Also, from reading the minutes sent, the Council understands that the School Committee used a rubric to evaluate those food services providers that sent in proposals. The Council is requesting a copy of the rubric that was used.
Communication from His Honor, Mayor Donald R. Grebien, to the Honorable Members of the Pawtucket City Council, submitting the following reappointment as a member of the Parks Commission for confirmation:

David Farrell, 82 Vivian Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02861. Term Expires the first Monday in August 2017.
THE CHAIR RECOGNIZES COUNCILOR WILDENHAIN.
With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Wildenhain, seconded by Councilors Mercer, Tetreault, and Barry, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Barney S. Heath, Director, Planning & Redevelopment, regarding needed repairs to the sidewalks near Curvin-McCabe School. He is asking that Mr. Heath look into a grant to repair the sidewalks there and at other schools, such as a Safe Route to Schools grant or CDBG Funds or other grants.
UPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION IS APPROVED ON A ROLL CALL VOTE, AS FOLLOWS:

Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Barros, the meeting is adjourned at 12:40 p.m., in memory of former Congressman Fernand J. St. Germain.
