City Council, October 23, 2013
A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 7:18 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.
Present – President Moran, Councilors Barros, Hodge, Mercer, Rudd, Vitali and Wildenhain.
Absent – Councilors Barry and Tetreault.
President Moran presides.
The reading of the records of October 9, 2013, is dispensed with and the records are APPROVED as prepared by the Clerk.
Upon motion made by Councilor Hodge, seconded by Councilor Rudd, the *Consent Agenda is APPROVED, on a unanimous voice vote.

The Clerk in instructed to send a communication to Superintendent Deborah Cylke, Pawtucket School Department, requesting information regarding the Curtis School playground. Specifically, the council is asking if the playground will be open on weekends. If so, what hours will the playground be open and who will be responsible for opening and closing the playground.

With majority consent of the Council, the following motion made by Councilor Rudd, seconded by Councilors Vitali and Hodge, is PASSED on a unanimous voice vote:
The Clerk in instructed to send a communication to Mayor Donald R. Grebien; Chief Paul King, Pawtucket Police Department; and Superintendent Deborah Cylke, Pawtucket School Department, requesting that he forward to them the information regarding school resource officers (SRO) and to express the council’s conviction regarding the importance of SRO’s in keeping everyone safe in the schools. The council wants the three officials to work together to ensure that SRO’s remain in the schools.

The Clerk in instructed to send a communication to Joanna L’Heureux, Director of Finance, requesting the following information about school resource officers (SRO):
· How much does it cost for one SRO?
· What percentage of the cost for SRO’s is supposed to be paid by the city and what percentage of the cost is supposed to be paid by the school department?
· Over the past four years, how much has the city actually paid for SRO’s and how much has the school department paid?
