City Council, April 11, 2012

A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 7:10 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

Present - President Moran, Councilors Barros, Barry, Hodge, O’Neill, Tetreault, Vitali and Wildenhain.

Absent – Councilor Chadwick.

The Clerk is instructed to send a communication to Frank J. Milos, Jr., Esq., City Solicitor, regarding the high school transformation plan the school department is now undertaking. The council understands that this plan may result in some changes to school department collective bargaining agreements. The council would like a legal opinion on whether they must approve the transformation plan, pursuant to Sec. 2-310 of the City Charter, regarding the approval of collective bargaining agreements. A copy of this letter is to be sent to Deborah Cylke, Superintendent, Stephen Robinson, Esq., and Allan Tenreiro, School Committee Chair.

Speaking in favor is Joseph Gentile, 165 Goldmine Road, Chepachet, RI, applicant.

Mr. Gentile states that he has been licensed to operate professionally since 2005. He opened up a shop in Cranston in 2010. This new shop in Pawtucket is not visible from the street. He does not expect much walk-in traffic. This will be a one-man shop.

Mr. Lewis’ letter describes the emergency response protocols for an accident at the Pawtucket Bridge 55 project. The council is requesting an assessment of these protocols from Chief Sisson, Batt. Chief McLaughlin and Mr. Pires. Are they satisfied with them? If not, what would they recommend? Who would be the first responders under this plan?
