A regular session of the Pawtucket City Council is held Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 7:02 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI.

THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE, RETURNED BY THE FINANCE COMMITTEE WITH THE RECOMMENDATION FOR APPROVAL WITH THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT, IS TAKEN UP:
AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 63 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET, 1996, ENTITLED ‘PERSONNEL POLICIES.’ (ACCRUED VACATION TIME)
Amend the following in Section 1 – A(3) & B and Section 2:
SECTION 1: ….§63-16 Payment of accrued vacation time….
A (3) Each individual Mayor and all unclassified non-union employees hired, elected or appointed after January 3, 2011, shall upon separation or termination from city service, be eligible to be paid up to a maximum of two weeks unused vacation time of said accrued unused vacation time authorized in section A1 above, based on the number of years of service to the city. Any additional vacation time accrued shall be used or otherwise lost.
B. All classified non-union employees shall be allowed to accrue unused vacation as follows:
1. Years of Service Unused Vacation time accrued
At least 1 year, but less than 4 years Up to 4 weeks
At least 4 years, but less than 6 years Up to 5 weeks
At least 6 years or more but less than 8 years Up to 6 weeks
At least 8 years or more Up to 8 weeks
2. All classified non-union employees shall take a mandatory minimum of one week of vacation per calendar year.
3. All classified non-union employees hired or appointed after of January 3, 2011, shall upon separation or termination from City service, be eligible to be paid up to a maximum of two weeks of said accrued unused vacation time authorized in section B1 above, based on the number of years of service to the city. Any additional vacation time accrued shall be used or otherwise lost. In addition, said employees shall be eligible for up to 50% of accrued unused sick time. Sick time may not accrue beyond a total of 200 days.
SECTION 2: This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage as of January 3, 2011.
